"District's Desire for Change Evident: Fairbairn Defeats Friske in GOP Primary"

**EMMET COUNTY, Mich. (WPBN/WGTU)** — The primary election on Tuesday yielded some surprising results. Political newcomer Parker Fairbairn defeated incumbent state Representative Neil Friske for the Republican nomination.

Friske represents the 107th District, which includes Charlevoix, Emmet, Cheboygan, Mackinac, and Chippewa counties.

The race garnered statewide attention following Friske’s arrest in June. Lansing Police reported that Friske is under investigation for a firearm offense and alleged sexual assault, though no charges have been filed yet.

“I believe this reflects not just our momentum but also the effective messaging and campaign we ran,” Fairbairn said.

“I campaigned on constitutional conservative principles, and it’s clear that the district was seeking change in that direction. To those who didn’t support me, I want to reach out and assure you that I will work tirelessly over the next three months to earn your vote,” Fairbairn added.

After his loss, Friske issued a statement that read:

"Unfortunately, we didn’t achieve the results we hoped for, but the people of the 107th have spoken, and it is up to us to accept the outcome."

Fairbairn will now face Democrat Jodi Decker in the November general election.
