Michelle Obama Supports Simone Biles and Jordan Chiles Following Marlon Humphrey’s ‘Disgusting’ Olympic Remarks
After Team USA gymnasts bowed in respect to Brazil's Rebeca Andrade, who had just won gold in the floor exercise, Ravens defensive back Marlon Humphrey criticized the gesture.
“This is literally disgusting,” Humphrey, a three-time Pro Bowler, tweeted on Monday morning.
In contrast, Obama praised the Americans' actions, commending them for their “sportsmanship” following Biles' silver medal and Chiles' bronze.
“I’m still moved by this beautiful display of sisterhood and sportsmanship! You can truly feel the love among these athletes. Congratulations to Rebeca, Jordan, and Simone!” Obama wrote on X.
Humphrey faced a strong backlash for his comments and acknowledged the criticism in a follow-up post later that night.
“I’m lowkey getting roasted right now. I think I’m getting cussed out in Portuguese on Instagram, lol,” he wrote.
The Olympics have been quite eventful for Biles and Chiles, who have collectively won six medals for Team USA.
For Biles, in particular, it has been a journey of redemption after her challenging experience with the “twisties” at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

With three gold medals and one silver to her name, Biles has firmly reestablished herself as a leading figure in gymnastics with her outstanding performance in Paris.
The 27-year-old also made headlines earlier in the games for a social media dispute involving former teammate MyKayla Skinner, who had criticized the U.S. “work ethic.” This came after the Americans secured gold in the team all-around event.
On Tuesday, Skinner turned to Instagram, urging Biles to help stop the harassment from her fans.
“Simone, I’m reaching out to you directly and publicly to ask you to put an end to this. Please ask your followers to stop. You’ve been a powerful advocate for mental health awareness, and many people need your support right now,” Skinner said.
